Learning to Lead - 1 to 5 days

Where: Depending on the area and the weather, a combination of single and multi-pitch climbing venues can be used. Crags are selected which offer good protection and teaching opportunities.

Who for: This course is for those who have already acquired basic rope work skills and have some experience of climbing outdoors. The aim is to give you the skills to become independent in leading climbs. You do not have to able to climb at a technically difficult standard to become a competent leader. When you progress to leading the instructor is usually close at hand on a separate rope to give direct guidance and ensure safety, giving you confidence.

Maximum Ratio: 2:1

Price: Full day £150 for two (pairs are required for the teaching of leading).

Programme: Reviewing basics and assessing your needs, moving on to leading, choosing routes, placing rock protection, building belays, rope management skills and self rescue.
