Where:

Lake District - Some of the best scrambles in the Lake District are found on easy angled rock and ridges of the high fells giving spectacular views. Also The Lake District has numerous ghyll scrambles. The noise of the water adds to the atmosphere, and on hot days scrambling up small falls and around pools admiring the plant life and rock formations is great fun. There are Cicerone Guide books 'Scrambles in the Lake District' Volume 1 (South) and 2 (North).

Snowdonia National Park (North Wales) - In this area there is an abundance of mountain ridges and faces and all the different mountain groups have numerous quality routes, many finishing near summits giving a satisfying mountaineering day. There are Cicerone Guide books 'Scrambles in Snowdonia'.

Scotland - Britain's most demanding and spectacular mountain ridges are in the Highlands and on Skye and provide unforgettable outings.

Who for: This course is for those who want to expand their experience of mountain adventure. Ridge and rock scrambling, ghyll scrambles and gorge runs. No experience is needed. This course is popular amongst those who enjoy mountain walking but want to do something more adventurous in the mountain environment. The aim is to do some fantastic scrambles and learn more about the environment and give confidence moving over challenging terrain and using some basic rope work.

Maximum Ratio: 2:1

Price: £75 for one person per day or £95 for two.

Programme: Movement on rock and difficult terrain, basic rope work, route planning and finding, emergency procedures and escape, environmental appreciation.
